The students are expected to draw circles onto each square of secondary colors (skill level adaptation: Y5Õs will have pre-cut colors) then cut the circles out and glue them to their first page. They will then draw a circle for the head, eyes, nose, antennas, and feet. They can also add lines for hair and a mouth. They are expected to color in the circles with the secondary colors provided.
Checking For Understanding: The teacher will walk around the room during the creating process to monitor and check for understanding. The Art Book itself will also serve as a portfolio to monitor progress.
Independent Practice: Students will follow directions and teachers model to complete their project on their own.
Closure: After clean up, the teacher will review the ideas in line and also before the next classÕs new lesson.
Assessment: The Art Book was created to be a form of assessment in that it will document the studentsÕ progress and development. It also allows the teacher to track motor skill development.
Reflection:
Kindergarten
-Once students complete their project, practice classroom procedures by requiring them to raise hand and put away project.
-Instruct students to NOT close their books because of wet glue
-Introduce secondary colors FIRST and then read the story so that they can identify the colors AND the circles.
-Demonstrate ALL aspects of the lesson. Leave nothing to interpretation.
